Optical-Flow for 3D Atmospheric Motion Estimation

چکیده
In this paper, we address the problem of estimating three-dimensional motions of a stratified atmosphere from satellite image sequences. The complexity of three-dimensional atmospheric fluid flows associated to incomplete observation of atmospheric layers due to the sparsity of cloud systems makes very difficult the estimation of dense atmospheric motion field from satellite images sequences. The recovery of the vertical component of fluid motion from a monocular sequence of image observations is a very challenging problem for which no solution exists in the literature. Based on a physically sound vertical decomposition of the atmosphere into layers of different altitudes, we propose here a dense motion estimator dedicated to the extraction of threedimensional wind fields characterizing the dynamics of a layered atmosphere. Wind estimation is performed over the complete three-dimensional space using a multi-layer model describing a stack of dynamic horizontal layers of evolving thickness, interacting at their boundaries via vertical winds. The efficiency of our approach is demonstrated on synthetic and real sequences.

متن کامل3d Global Motion Estimation of Human Head by Using Optical Flow
In this paper an estimation of tree dimensional (3D) global motion of human head in model based coding of videotelephone signals is presented. 6 parameters of global motion are estimated by using optical flow, 3 rotation angels and 3 translations. An least-squares (LS) method was used for solving the motion parameters of the human head between two successive frames in videosequence.
متن کاملIntegration of Region Tracking and Optical Flow for Image Motion Estimation
Robust motion estimation is obtained by integrating optical flow and region tracking methods into a closedloop architecture. To ensure robust tracking over long intervals in video image sequences, the system has mechanisms to predict and assess tracking performance. Our application is to constrain the estimation of the 3D motion of a camera.
متن کاملOptical Flow-Based 3D Human Motion Estimation from Monocular Video
We present a generative method to estimate 3D human motion and body shape from monocular video. Under the assumption that starting from an initial pose optical flow constrains subsequent human motion, we exploit flow to find temporally coherent human poses of a motion sequence. We estimate human motion by minimizing the difference between computed flow fields and the output of an artificial flo...

In this paper, we face the challenging problem of estimation of time-consistent layer motion fields at various atmospheric depths. Based on a vertical decomposition of the atmosphere, we propose three different dense motion estimator relying on multi-layer dynamical models. In the first method, we propose a mass conservation model which constitutes the physical background of a multi-layer dense...
